Andy's Alpine Holiday

Published:

Description

Andy takes a moment to appreciate his surroundings whilst taking a holiday to some refreshing alpine countryside!

Scene created in Poser Pro 2014
Exported and rendered in Octane Standalone
Scattered grass, flowers and trees were achieved using Phantom Scatter ( www.guusthissen.nl/scatter/ )

352mb VRAM was used to process this scene with 14.3k samples @ 41 hours.
PMC Kernel was used with a diffuse depth of 8.
Minor Photoshop skills were used to balance foreground image with background image.
A self-made alpine mountain background was used as the background.

Andy is the default mannequin that comes with the Poser software. I only see Andy in tutorial images and videos so I figured I’d give the guy a little more appreciation and send him on holiday!

I think the main reason this image took so long to render was due to the 40,356 meshes in the scene!
1,437,117 polygons in total with 14 textures :)
To render this scene to 16k samples would have taken 46 hours, I was close to finishing but I honestly couldn’t see much improvement taking place in less than 2k remaining samples so decided to stop at 14.2k samples.

..This took you 41 damn hours to render?? Shit, it don't even take me that many hours to render in Poser....and Poser is slow as crap. But maybe it took so long because of the grass and trees? This is why I hate grass and trees, it renders horribly slow.
You said you rendered in Octane, and I thought Octane was suppose to be fast because it uses the card in the machine. Plus you have a lot more memory too.
